Tulum dates back to about 1200 AD, and is well known to be the most dramatic and breathtaking setting of any Mayan Ruins site, on a clifftop, overlooking the aquamarine waters of the Caribbean Sea.  Simply beautiful.  The ruins site is not as large as Chichen Itza or Coba, but it is the only ruins site to be set on the shores of the Caribbean Sea.
